7.14 Fiber Optics and instruments
7.14.1 Replacing a Fiber Optic Bulb
To replace a bulb in a five hole tubing configuration (see Figure 7.14)
1. Remove the handpiece from the tubing.
2. Using the PVC bulb handle, insert lamp into the lamp socket. Do not touch
glass portion of the bulb with your fingers.
To modify a five-hole configuration to work with a six pin fiber optic handpiece,
remove the fiber optic bulb from the handpiece tubing and insert the ISO adapter provided in the Accessory Kit.
7.14.2 Replace Fiber-Optic HP Tubing
Tools Needed: Small Flat-head

1. Turn off main power and air
supply to unit.
2. Open top of delivery system and the Fiber Optic power
pack. Locate the 2 black wires that are attached to the port
labeled HP 1. Loosen the set screws with a small flathead
screwdriver and remove the wires. (Fig. 7.14.2-A)
3. From the outside of the cart locate the black bulk-head for
highspeed handpiece and remove. (Fig. 7.14.2-B) (Fig.
7.14.2-C)
4. On the new fiber-optic handpiece cord there are 2 black wires that extend out of the tubing. Make sure those wires
are not crossed or tangled. Thread wires through the small holes in the bulk-head attached to cart (Fig. 7.14.2-D) (Fig.
7.14.2-E)
5. From the outside lineup pins on bulk-head. Tighten the black plastic nut. NOTE: Be sure 2 black wires do not get
pinched
6. From inside the cart locate the black wires you just pulled through, slide the exposed metal end into the 2 ports on
Fiber-Optic power pack labeled HP 1. Once you have inserted them, tighten down the screws with a small flathead
screwdriver
7. Gather the extra length in wires and slide into provided clip to keep from getting tangled
8. Close the delivery system top, turn on power and run the fiber-optic handpiece to test proper connection.
