DAMAGE THE PINION AND/OR THE CROWN. PERFORM MAINTENANCE OPERATIONS MORE
FREQUENTLY IF YOU RIDE THE VEHICLE IN EXTREME AMBIENT CONDITIONS.
Removing
•
Loosen the chain tension.
•
Rotate the rear wheel until the master
link can be identified.
•
Slide off the clip.
•
Remove the plate underneath.
•
Remove the master link from the op-
posite side.
•
Remove the chain.
CAUTION
REPLACE THE ENTIRE UNIT IF THE CHAIN IS PARTICU-
LARLY WORN.
inspection
To check backslash:
•
Stop the engine.
•
Place the vehicle upright on a specific stand.
•
Engage neutral gear.
•
Check that vertical oscillation at the middle point between pinion and crown on the lower
part of the chain is of about 20 ÷ 25 mm (0.79 ÷ 0.98 in).
