Duct pressure losses
The table below shows pressure loss in ducts by flow rate multiple values.
Losses are measured in kPa per 1 meter of pipe length. Measure to be considered is the equivalent length of the hydraulic circuit.
Losses are calculated for water at 70-75°C without glycol. If glycol is added to the water, losses should be multiplied by the given
factor. The volume in litres for 1 meter of pipe is reported in the last line.
Value of pipe length losses should be summed to spot pressure losses due to components of hydraulic system according to the
following table.
Ratios for Glycol
The table below shows freezing temperatures for water-glycol mixture.
If such fluid is used, pressure losses need to be increased using the following ratios:

If glycol is
10%
of the volume, multiply by
1.07
•
If glycol is
20%
of the volume, multiply by
1.15
•
If glycol is
30%
of the volume, multiply by
1.22
APEN GROUP recommends for its AKY boilers the use of mixtures of water and monopropylene glycol FERNOX ALPHI11.
Different types of glycol might void the warranty.
