OIL LUBRICATION SYSTEM OPERATION AND
CONTROL LOGIC FOR 180S SEAMERS
THE OIL LUBRICATION SYSTEM AS STANDARD EQUIPMENT ON THE ANGELUS 180S LINE OF
SEAMERS CONSISTS OF TWO PRIMARY SYSTEMS.
THE FIRST IS A THREE (3) PHASE MOTOR DRIVEN POSITIVE DISPLACEMENT OIL PUMP WITH
CANISTER TYPE FILTERS FOR CLEANSING AND CIRCULATING SEAMER BASE OIL. THE FILTRATION
SYSTEM IS MANUFACTURED BY HYDRA-TECH.
THE SECOND SYSTEM IS A THREE (3) PHASE MOTOR DRIVEN POSITIVE DISPLACEMENT OIL PUMP
WITH RESERVOIR, MANUFACTURED BY LUBRIQUIP CENTRALIZED LUBRICATION SYSTEMS WITH A
TRADE NAME OF “TRABON LUBEMASTER”. THE OUTPUT OF THE TRABON OIL PUMP FEEDS OIL
DIVIDER VALVES LOCATED IN BOTH THE SEAMER BASE AND UPPER TURRET HOUSING WHICH IN
TURN LUBRICATE KEY WEAR POINTS ON THE SEAMER.
PROPER OIL LUBRICATION SYSTEM OPERATION IS SENSED BY A PROXIMITY SWITCH LOCATED
OVER A RECIPROCATING INDICATOR PIN WITHIN THE MASTER DIVIDER VALVE AND IS INPUT TO
THE SEAMER PLC.
OIL FILTRATION SYSTEM GENERAL INFORMATION
THE OIL FILTRATION SYSTEM IS EMPLOYED AS A MEANS OF REMOVING WATER AND PARTICULATE
MATTER FROM THE OIL IN THE SEAMER BASE, ADDING OIL TO KEY WEAR POINTS IN A QUANTUM
AMOUNT (BOOSTING) AND PROVIDING A MEANS OF TRABON RESERVOIR AUTOMATIC REFILL
FROM THE SEAMER BASE OIL SUPPLY.
FILTRATION SYSTEM INFORMATION.
NOTE: THE OIL FILTRATION PUMP MUST BE IN OPERATION
TO START THE SEAMER BUT IS NOT REQUIRED TO
MAINTAIN SEAMER OPERATION.
THE OIL FILTRATION PUMP INLET SUPPLY IS FROM THE
LOWEST POINT IN THE SEAMER BASE. THE OIL PUMP IS
A POSITIVE DISPLACEMENT TYPE WITH A CAPACITY OF
0.5 GPM. THE PUMP OUTLET PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE
IS FACTORY SET TO BYPASS AT 95 PSI.
TWO PRESSURE SENSING SWITCHES ALONG WITH A
FLOW SWITCH ARE PROVIDED IN THE OIL FILTRATION
PUMP OUTLET PIPING FOR OVER PRESSURE AND
LOSS
OF FLOW INDICATION.
A WATER SEPARATOR FILTER AND A PARTICULATE FIL-
TER ARE EMPLOYED TO CLEAN THE OIL BEFORE IT IS
RETURNED TO THE BASE THROUGH THE OIL DIVERTER
SOLENOID OR TRANSFERRED TO THE TRABON PUMP
RESERVOIR THROUGH BOTH THE OIL DIVERTER SOLE-
NOID AND THE REFILL-BOOST SOLENOID VALVE.
