6.7 Check en gine oil level
• Park the ma chine on an even, level sur face.
• Shut off the en gine.
1 Oil dip stick
2 Oil filler port
• To check the oil level
• Pull out the dip stick (1),
• wipe it clean,
• re in sert it and pull it back out.
• Check to see if the oil level is be tween the marks (A).
• If the oil level is too low, add fresh oil up to the spec i fied level.

Col lect old oil and dis pose of it in an en vi ron ment
friendly man ner.
Do not per mit oil to run onto the floor into the
drains.
Im me di ately re place dam aged seals.
Important
If oil from an other man u fac turer or with a dif fer ent vis -
cos ity is used, the used oil must be drained.
Never mix two dif fer ent types of oil.
Make sure the oil level is be tween the dip stick's up per
and lower marks:
• Too much oil can cause high oil tem per a tures and
re duce per for mance or ex ces sive fuel con sump tion.
On en gines with closed crank case ven ti la tion, this
can lead to en gine dam age from oil ham mer ing.
• Too lit tle oil can dam age the en gine through lack of
lu bri ca tion.
