1 Press the STOP button on the Touch
Screen Display to stop automatic anal-
ysis.
Turn power off and follow appropriate safety
procedures before opening the electronics
enclosure.
2 Unfasten the head mounting plate from
the flow cell and swing out the XRT Head.
Refer to Section 10.1.1 Removing the XRT
Head .
3 Remove the aperture window ring.
Use the Window Removal Tool — a small
round standoff with a short threaded screw
emerging from one end. Carefully thread the
tool into one of the two holes in the window
holder ring. Thread it in all the way. Pull
steadily on the tool, straight away from the
head, until the ring pops out.
BRACE YOUR HANDS CAREFULLY SO YOU ARE NOT LIKELY TO SLIP AND JAB THE TOOL
THROUGH THE WINDOW.
BE AWARE THAT THE BERYLLIUM WINDOW ON THE PROPORTIONAL COUNTER (GRAYISH
CIRCLE UNDER THE SAFETY WINDOW OF THE DETECTOR HEAD) IS EXTREMELY FRAGILE
AND WILL BREAK IF YOU CONTACT IT CARELESSLY WITH A TOOL OR YOUR FINGER!
4 Remove the old window film.
Remove the eight screws holding the inner
piece of the window ring against the o-ring in
the outer piece.
