B.1 Your Obligations
YOUR OBLIGATION AS A SPECIALLY LICENSED USER OF X-RAY EQUIPMENT
Under normal operating conditions, the Model 682T-HP presents no significant radiation hazard since the
operator is well shielded from the X-ray tube at all times. Without shielding, however, a significant
radiation hazard may be present.
DO NOT DISASSEMBLE THE INSTRUMENT
DO NOT MODIFY THE INSTRUMENT OR ATTEMPT TO DEFEAT THE SAFETY INTERLOCKS
YOU MUST MAINTAIN THE LABELS IN LEGIBLE CONDITION
Clean the labels with a damp towel if necessary. Do not scrub excessively.
YOU MUST REPORT INCIDENTS TO YOUR REGULATORY AGENCY
Any failure of or damage to the shielding system requires you to suspend operation of the instrument until
corrective action can be taken by a person licensed to perform such activities. Within 30 days, you must
furnish to your regulatory agency a report containing
a brief description of the event and the remedial action taken.

B.2 Emergency Procedures
If failure or damage occurs which could affect the shielding of the X-ray tube, the appropriate authorities
(listed at the end of this section) and AMETEK Process Instruments should be notified immediately. If the
instrument is seriously damaged such that the X-ray Head is no longer shielded, the instrument should be
turned off until trained personnel can take corrective action.
B.3 Safe Operation
The Model 682T-HP analyzer is designed to eliminate the possibility of accidental exposure to radiation.
DO NOT DISASSEMBLE THE UNIT. DO NOT MODIFY THE UNIT. Under normal operating
conditions, the only time the X-ray tube can be on is when the light is on.
