Telephony validation tests for VoIP and PSTN
Note:
You will need access to 3 phones for the following tests.
To dial out
1. As Buddy-1, double-click on Buddy-2’s phone icon from the main contact screen.
Verify that an IM window appears to both Buddy-1 and
Buddy-2, and both Buddy-1 and Buddy-2 are dialed. Answer both phones.
Verify their phone icons change to the green ‘on the phone’ icon.
Verify that Buddy-1 and Buddy-2 can talk.
2. In Buddy-1’s IM window, enter another phone number in the ‘Call’ entry box, and dial
out.
Verify the number is added to the IM window.
Verify the phone is dialed and answer the phone. Verify all phones can talk to
everyone else in the conversation.
3. As Buddy-1, select Buddy-2’s phone icon and press the
Mute
button.
Verify that Buddy-2 is muted and his or her icon changes to ‘mute’.
4. As Buddy-1, select Buddy-2’s phone icon and press the
Hold
button.
Verify that Buddy-2 is held and his or her icon changes to ‘Held’.
As Buddy-1, select Buddy-2’s phone icon and press the
Hold
button.
Verify that Buddy-2 is taken off hold and their icon changes to the green ‘on the
phone’ icon.
5. As Buddy-1, click the
Record
button in the IM window.
Verify that callers hear the “This call is being recorded” prompt.
Verify that the
Record
icon changes to the
Stop Recording
icon.
Talk into the phones for at least 5 seconds then click the
Stop Recording
icon.
Verify that callers hear the “Recording has been stopped” prompt and that the
icon changes back to the
Record
icon.
6. Hang up all phones and close the IM window.
7. As Buddy-1, click on the
Recordings
tab in the main Buddy window and verify that a
recording was made by clicking on the recording, entering a phone number in the
Call
box, and clicking the
Call
button. Answer the phone and verify the recording. Hang
up.
