16.4.8.1
Checking the diaphragms
-
Remove the pump.
-
Loosen the nuts on the pressure and suction pipe (3 Figure 16/4).
-
Remove the suction and pressure pipes (5 Figure 16/4).
-
Remove the valves (1 Figure 16/4).
-
Loosen the screws (3 Figure 16/2).
-
Remove the piston head (2 Figure 16/2).
-
Check the condition of the diaphragms (7 Figure 16/1).
-
Replace the damaged diaphragms.
16.4.8.2
Replacing the diaphragm
-
Note the proper position of the hole or bore in the piston.
-
Attach the diaphragm (7 Fig. 16/1) with the respective disc and bolt (8,9 Fig. 16/1) to the
piston (4 Fig.16/1) so that the edge of the diaphragm or molding "OIL" on the diaphragm
faces the piston.
-
Always tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
-
Improperly tightened bolts leads to stripping and to leakage.
Procedure:
-
Loosen the bolt (9 Figure 16/1) and remove the diaphragm (7 Figure 16/1) with the disc (8
Figure 16/1) from the piston (4 Figure 16/1)
-
Let the oil emulsions and mix leak out if the diaphragm is damaged.
-
Flush the body housing (1 Figure 16/2) with diesel mixed with oil, kerosene, or flushing
oil.
-
Clean all sealing surfaces.
-
Replace the diaphragm (7 Figure 16/1)
-
Place the head (2 Figure 16/2) on the pump housing and screws (3 Figure 16/2).
-
Tighten the bolts evenly in a cross formation.
-
Reinstall the valves (1 Figure 16/4) after testing and cleaning them.
-
Fit the O-rings (2 Figure 16/4)
-
Screw the pressure and suction pipes (5 Figure 16/4) to the pump housing (1 Figure 16/2).
-
Tighten the screws with to a torque of 11Nm.
16.4.9
Summary of key points
-
Pump speed is maximum 540 RPMs.
-
Avoid frequently switching off the pump with the drive clutch; if there is no other solution,
then restart the drive clutch at low speeds.
-
Start the cooled pump at low speed first.
-
Prevent the formation of a vacuum in the intake paths - the diaphragms may rupture!!!
-
The suction filter must be properly cleaned.
-
The main valve between the tank and the pump must not be closed.
-
There must be no foreign object in the suction hose.
-
Each time you fill the tank, check the entire suction path to prevent blockage to the pump
inlet.
-
Symptoms of diaphragm rupture include loss of oil from the pump or formation of
emulsion in the expansion tank -
immediately shut down the machine and fix the pump
