14.5.1 Axle maintenance
14.5.1.1 Tightening and loosening the wheel nuts
With new wheels, the wheel nuts may initially loosen under continuous load. It is therefore
necessary to check the tightness of the nuts after the first test run. This examination should
be repeated after each wheel removal.
Use the specially modified wrench to tighten the nuts. If you do not use this special wrench
for the wheel nuts, you will not achieve the correct torque when tightening, and the bolts will
wear out, also stripping the threads.
The appropriate torque for tightening is indicated in the following table:
To achieve the required values when tightening and loosening the wheel nuts, the prescribed
working tools must be used.

14.5.1.1 Checking the brakes
Squeeze the brake lever towards the stopping power and check the levering distance. The
distance must be about 1/10 of the length of the lever (from the cam rod, this is 180 mm. The
levering distance must be from 18 to 21 mm.
If the distance is too large, can be reduced by moving the lever and turning it across one gear
tooth. After repair, always check the brake pin mounting nut.
After the nut is tightened, set the brake towards the front and slightly brake if it is not tight.
14.6.1.1 Removing discrepancies in the braking power of the left and right brake units
An operative area of the hub and drum, and clean brake shoes are assumed, and no other
mechanical resistances are assumed (handbrake, non-lubricated bearings, etc.).
