Remove the cover over the steering spindle sprocket “G”.

Using a scratch awl or a small center punch, mark the location of the chain on the sprocket and the
location of the sprocket on the spindle for reassembly.

Loosen the (2) “H” bolts and locknut “I”. Turn bolt “J” to loosen the chain tension. The chain should be
loose enough to remove the steering spindle sprocket.

Remove bolt “K” and its flat washer from the center of the spindle sprocket. Work sprocket “G” up and off
the splined spindle.

See Figure 5. Lift nut lock “L” off of the spindle and remove large spindle nut “M”.

Jack up the rear of the machine and slide the spindle down and out the bottom of its housing.
WARNING!
NEVER WORK UNDER THE MACHINE WITHOUT JACK STANDS OR BLOCKS SUPPORTING THE
FRAME.

See Figure 4. If the spindle housing must also be replaced, remove the (4) “N” bolts.

Reassemble in reverse order and test for proper operation.
