Check the condition of the switch operating rod. Replace if bent - do not straighten.

Check for built-up dirt or corrosion on the switch operating rod, remove and clean if necessary. The rod
must move easily through the nylon bushing in the switch bracket (see Figure 12). Install a new nylon
bushing if the old one is damaged or missing.

Remove bolt “K” and apply grease to the bushing at the bottom of the switch operating rod.

Position tab “J” so the end of the operating rod is flush with the top lock nut.

Turn tab “J” so it makes firm contact with both of the switch levers, but does not rub against the actuator
barrel.
