3.6.9 Text Overlay
Text Overlay feature, which is intended for financial applications, overlays credit card information
over the video image. This feature can use the COM port or the network.
3.6.9.1 COM Type
Select the COM Sniffer Mode when using the RS232 port on the rear of the DVR for the overlay. The
dialog appears as in Figure 3-103. The following describes the various entries in the COM mode
screen. Make your selections as described below and then click
Save .

Sniffer Mode
Select COM from the drop-down menu.
Protocol
Select NONE or POS .
Setting
Click the COM Setting button to open a dialog for making RS232 settings.
Overlay Channel
Select the video channel(s) on which you want to overlay the card number.
Overlay Mode
Check the box for the option(s) you want to enable: Preview or Encode. Preview means the card
number is overlaid in the live video. Encode means the card number is overlaid in the recorded file.
Overlay Position
From the dropdown list, select the position where you want the overlay to appear: Top Left, Top
Right, Bottom Left or Bottom Right.
