Getting Started

Attention
Refer to the Maintenance Chapter for all the precautions relative to
fiber optic connectors.
Note
The connection quality indicator is displayed on the screen when the
measurement is started.
Switching on/off the MTS
e
Switching on the MTS
e
:
•
Press the
ON/OFF
button.
When operating on battery, an
message appears on the
screen. Then, the display is blank for approximately 2 seconds. Then a self
test is carried out.
If the MTS
e
is used from the mains supply, report to page 3-7.
The opening screen is displayed showing:
- the actual time and date,
- the charge level of the battery or the batteries

or the mains icon
- the serial number of the instrument,
- the date of the last calibration
- the graphic of the MTS
e
showing the modules and options installed.
•
If the battery level is too low (less than 10%), then a warning is displayed on
the screen. You must store your results and switch off the unit.
•
If the battery level is below 5%, then a beep occurs periodically. When the
battery is too low, the MTS
e
is automatically switched off with storage of the
current configuration.
Switching off the MTS
e
When the MTS
e
is on, press the
ON/OFF
button to switch it off.
Note
When the instrument is switched off, a beep is emitted to indicate
that it is possible to restart it. Any attempt to restart it before this
beep is emitted, will fail.
Reset
If the MTS
e
is blocked, it can be reset by holding down the ON/OFF, button (for
about 4 sec.)
1. This battery level does not appear immediatly. A few minutes are necessary to
have a correct display of this level.
