Before switching on
Using MTS
e
from the mains supply
The mains adapter allows the MTS
e
to be used, while charging the batteries, or
during a measurement to save battery life, if a mains supply is available.
Attention
You must only use the mains adapter supplied with the MTS
e
. Even
though mains adapters delivered with other electronic equipment
may appear identical, they risk damaging MTS
e
.
•
Connect the adapter to a mains outlet.
•
On the rear panel of the MTS
e
, remove the power supply connector blanking
cap and connect the cable from the mains adapter. The "AUTO TEST Vx.x"
message is displayed on the screen for a short period and the and the
On
LED
is on. Then the
On
LED flashes : the instrument is ready to be started
•
To switch on the instrument, press the
On
button.
If the instrument is not switched on and if it contains a battery which needs a
charge, the charge will start within 10 seconds max. and the
Charge
indicator
will then be on until the end of the battery charge.
Note
During battery operation it is possible to change to mains operation
without data loss.
Note
During mains operation it is possible to change to battery operation
without data loss. But it is necessary to wait about 3 minutes to have
a correct display of the battery charge level.
Note
When the OFF button is pressed, the current results and configura-
tion are saved. When the On button is pressed they are recalled.
Attention
If there is a loss of power during operation the current results and
configuration are lost. The next time the instrument is switched on,
the initial configuration will be used.
Connecting the fiber
Connect the fiber to the tester as follows:

If necessary remove the dust cap from the optical socket situated on the rear
panel of the MTS
e
•
Use a dry air spray to remove any dust from the fiber connector and the
optical socket of the MTS
e
.
•
If an universal connector is used, verify that the relevant adapter is
connected.
•
Connect the fiber connector to the optical socket of the MTS
e
.
Attention
Take care to correctly align the connector to the optical socket other-
wise the results obtained by MTS
e
will be affected by this bad con-
nection.
