HSS clocking DTE to DCE “Pipe Mode”

56 kbit/s of overhead is used to
transport RxC and TxC from
HSS DTE to HSS DCE.
This is the preferred dual external
clock system.
Both clocks travel in the same
direction from DTE to DCE. This
mode is used when it is important that
the externally supplied RxC and TxC
are maintained independently.
This is almost only required in
cascaded (that is, multi-link)
networks.
This mode cannot be used in
conjunction with any interface
conversion to / from X.21.
