• Transparent messages: ZXG10-OB06 (V1.0) transmits these messages
without any analysis or change.
• Non-transparent messages: These are the messages between ZXG10-
OB06 (V1.0) and BSC. ZXG10-OB06 (V1.0) processes these according
to the specific message content.

The signaling on Um interface includes all messages of RR, MM and CM.
Most of these messages are transparent to ZXG10-OB06 (V1.0).
Figure 21 shows the L3 message structure on Um interface.

The message structure on Um interface includes the following fields:
• Protocol indicator field: It indicates the protocol type (RR, CM or SMS).
• Transaction Identifier (TI) field: It distinguishes multiple concurrent CM
connections.
• Message Type field: It indicates the function of L3 message.

Most of the radio-interface signaling messages on Abis interface are
transmitted transparently in L3. It ensures normal communication services
by performing management over physical and logical equipment of
ZXG10-OB06 (V1.0). This includes equipment start, release, parameter
control and performance monitoring. It divides the managed objects into
four types:
• Radio link layer
• Dedicated channel
• Control channel
• Transceiver
