Control Information
UI-frame in LAPDm consists of the following fields:
• Address field: It consists of SAPI
• Control field: P represents the query bit
• If P=1, it requires the response frame from the opposite-end peer
entity.
• If P=0, it does not requires the response frame from the opposite-
end peer entity.
• Information field: It transmits L3 data, for example, system
information, measurement report and data indication.
RR/MM/CM Protocol
RR MM and CM are the protocols of three sub-layers of physical layer: RR,
MM and CM. These sub-layers are responsible for control and management.
It arranges the information of the subscriber and system control process
into the designated logical channels according to certain protocol packets.
• RR Layer: It implements radio resources management, to establish and
release connection between the MS and MSC during the call process.
• MM Layer: It implements mobility and security management, which is
necessary to process when the mobile station initiates location update.
• CM Layer: It is responsible for communication management. It
establishes, holds and releases the call connections betweens
subscribers. This Layer provides the following functions:
• Call Control (CC)
• Supplementary Services Management (SSM)
• Short Messaging Service (SMS)
In ZXG10-OB06 (V1.0), the radio resource management module and
paging module implements RR/MM/CM protocol. It also performs the
processing of the following two types of messages in L3:
