After CMM is powered on, it reads the ID signal to locate the position of
the O&M TS. The master rack generates FN and SYNCLK and sends to
extension cabinet. The cabinet category is read by the CMM from the

cabinet top ID signal.

HDLC protocol transmits and broadcast inter-cabinet FN, O&M TS and

communication (CC_COM). Details are as follows:

•

In the downlink direction, CMM transparently switch O&M time slot of

Abis interface to processor and other cabinets of the same site. It
identifies O&M according to TEI.

•

In the uplink direction, CMM compresses the O&M TSs with the next
cabinet to send to the upper-level CMM. Thus, the master rack
compresses the O&M messages of three cabinets into one O&M

message to report to BSC.
