6.2 Measuring Distances

By placing the cursor on the acquired waveform, you can measure the distance to events such as
reflections and splice losses.

Procedure

Using the Cursor to Measure the Distance

Follow the procedure below to measure the distance between the distance reference and the cursor.

Using the

rotary knob

and

ENTER

, select

OTDR

to display the following screen.

Turn the rotary knob to display the cursor.

Move the cursor to a position where an event is displayed.

• The location where the Instrument and the optical fiber are connected is the distance reference. To

perform more accurate measurements, zoom in on the waveform.

Using Markers to Measure the Distance

Follow the procedure below to measure the distance between two markers.

Using the
