2.3.3 System with suspension skimmer
The suction hose is initially to be completely filled with water and subsequently connected to the
skimmer.
2.4 Rinsing the silica sand (before initial start-up)
Set the hand lever of the 6-way valve to the -BACKWASH- position and electrically activate the
filtration system.
With very long suction lines, it may take up to 10 minutes before swimming pool water is delivered.
After water delivery begins, channel the water into the drain for approximately 3 minutes in order to
avoid silica sand dust entering the swimming pool through the inlet nozzle.
Subsequently set the valve to "Rinse" for 30 seconds (refer also to item 3.2).
Caution! Only operate the 6-way valve (1) with the filter pump (10) switched off – otherwise,
there is a risk of the valve's being destroyed!
2.5 Cleaning the pre-filter
Since building dirt or foreign bodies may have accumulated in the pump strainer, the strainer must be
cleaned after 10-15 min. following initial start-up.
The circulating pump must not be put into operation without a strainer (coarse filter); otherwise the
pump might become congested and blocked.
2.6 Filter – operation
Set the hand lever of the 6-way valve
(1)
to -FILTER- . The silica sand filter is now ready for operation
for mechanical water treatment of your swimming pool. Switch on the filtration system.
2.7 Adjusting the filtration time
The operating time of the silica sand filter depends on the swimming pool volume, its contents, the
weather and the chemicals.
For instance:
it is recommended to circulate the pool contents 1 to 1½ times within 24 hours.
If pool contents of 10 m³ are circulated 1½ times, a total of 15 m³ is to be circulated. If the pump output
is 6 m³ per hour, the operating time of the filter will be approximately 2½ hours. This period should
elapse completely without in order to achieve optimum mechanical cleaning.
Important: The filtration time is to be increased on hot days in order to guarantee adequate
disinfection (e.g. 2 hours in the morning and 2 hours in the afternoon). The filtration system is
also to be switched on rainy days, as the rainwater carries organic contamination that
promotes algae growth into the swimming pool!
