Dialing examples
The WG500-384i places bonded video calls through the codec/IMUX card. A bonded
video call makes full use of ISDN capabilities. When you place a bonded call, you dial
one number. The call is placed at the line speed you selected.
If you are calling another system at a line rate of 384 Kbps, you will dial only one
number, such as 512-555-4476. If you are calling another system at a line rate of
2x64 Kbps, you may need to dial two numbers, such as 512-555-3333 and
512-555-3334.
Communicating with your telephone company
(North American users only)
The following step-by-step directions will help you communicate with your local
telephone company when you are ordering ISDN BRI service.
1. Call your local telephone company to determine the availability of BRI service
in your location.
2. Ask the telephone company what type of switch is used.
3. Give the telephone company the provisioning requirements for the VTEL codec
board. You might want to photocopy or print out this information and fax it to
them.
4. Tell the phone company what long distance carrier you want to use.
5. Call your long distance service. Ensure that your ISDN “B” channel is set up
for circuit switched data for video-conferencing.
6. When the telephone company installs your BRI service, ask for the following
information:

Reconfirm the switch type being used.
•
Confirm your selected long distance carrier.
•
What are your ISDN phone numbers?
•
What is your Terminal Endpoint Identifier?
•
If applicable, what are the SPIDs and DNs associated with your BRI?
