3. Intended use
The measuring device measures and indicates the thickness of non-magnetic coatings such as
lacquers, colours, glass, porcelain, plastic, etc. on magnetic and non-magnetic metals on the LC
display. The LC display can be backlit. Magnetic metals such as iron or steel, as well as non-
magnetic metals such as aluminium, brass, etc. are detected automatically. Manual presetting
is possible. A maximum of 500 measured values can be saved in groups in the integrated data
logger, and read out on the measuring device.
Hi/Lo limit values can be programmed for fast layer thickness checks (teach-in mode). The
measured values are displayed visually in three colours as good, too high or too low. If the limit
values are exceeded or not met, an alarm will also sound. A calibration function always ensures
accurate measured values. The layer thickness can be displayed either in micrometres (µm)
or milli-inches (mils). The measuring device is operated by batteries and requires two 1.5 V
AA batteries. Measurements must not be carried out under unfavourable ambient conditions.
Adverse conditions include:
- Wetness or high air humidity,
-
Dust and flammable gases, vapours or solvents
-
Strong electrostatic and magnetic fields
