11. Operation
a) Switching the measuring instrument on
The measuring instrument can be switched on with the rotary switch. In the ‘OFF’ position, the measuring instrument
is switched off.
To switch on, turn the rotary switch to the desired measuring function.
b) Control keypad
Different buttons are used to control and set the measuring instrument . The
buttons have the following functions:
The MODE button allows you to toggle between ranges with double or multiple assignment
(e.g. AC/DC toggling). The function is toggled with each press.
The HOLD/ESC button has different functions depending on the current operating mode. In
normal measurement mode, the current measured value or screen content is frozen. A frozen
measured value is indicated on the display with the ‘HOLD’ symbol.
When in measurement operation, ensure that this function is inactive before carrying out
measurement. With the HOLD function active, measured values cannot be displayed cor-
rectly.
In the settings menu, press the ‘ESC’ button to exit the menu directly.
The RANGE button allows you to toggle between the preset automatic range section (auto
range) and manual range selection (manual range). This is necessary if automatic range
selection does not display the desired resolution or there is a need to switch back and forth
between measured value resolutions in the measurement range frequently. Each press
selects the next measurement range range (if the highest measuring range is selected, the
multimeter goes back to the lowest range).
Manual range selection can be deactivated with a long press (approx. >1 s) of the ‘RANGE’
button. Auto range is active again.
There IR button has two functions.
Pressing briefly switches from multimeter mode to thermal imaging mode and back.
A long press (>1 s) activates or deactivates the rear LED light.
The cursor buttons allow corresponding parameters to be set in the settings menu. The 4
arrow marks also indicate the menu directions.
Various functions are displayed in measuring mode at the bottom edge of the display. These
also usually have arrow marks. To select these functions, press the corresponding cursor
button with the specified arrow.
Examples:
If no arrows are displayed in the function fields, the nearby ‘MODE’ and ‘HOLD’ buttons on
the side are responsible for these functions.
The menu button is located in the centre of the cursor buttons and opens the settings menu.
In the settings menu, this button is used as a selection button (Enter) when pressed briefly.
With a long press (>1 s), the menu is exited as with the ESC button.
