17. Troubleshooting
The DMM was designed using the latest technology and is safe to use. However, problems and malfunctions
may still occur.
This section explains how to troubleshoot common issues:
Always observe the safety information in these instructions.

The multimeter does not work.
Is the battery empty?
Check the status. Charge the battery,
if necessary.
System time and date are not
retained.
The backup battery is empty.
Check and replace the backup battery
as outlined in ‘Maintenance’.
The measured value does not
change.
Have you selected the wrong measur-
ing function (AC/DC)?
Check the display (AC/DC) and select
another function, if necessary.
Did you use the wrong measurement
sockets?
Compare the connection with the
display.
Is the hold function enabled?
Disable the hold function.
The multimeter cannot take
measurements in the 10 A
range.
Is the F1 fuse in the 10 A input
defective?
Check the 10A F1 fuse.
The multimeter cannot take
measurements in the mA/µA
range.
Is the F2 fuse in the mA/µA input
defective?
Check the 800 mA F2 fuse.
