– Move the steering column to its lowest position by means of
the steering column adjustment feature and lock it in place with
the locking lever.
– Remove steering column trim ⇒ General body repairs, interior;
Rep. gr. 68 ; Compartments/covers; Assembly overview -
steering column trim .
– Release securing bolt -arrow- of steering column switch -1-.
– Pull safety latch -2- upwards in -direction of arrow B- and pull
connector -1- off steering column switch -3-.
– Pull steering column switch -3- towards the rear and off steer‐
ing column.
Installing
Install in the reverse order of removal observing the following:
– If the coil connector has been moved out of centre position
accidentally, the centre position can be redetermined by turn‐
ing the coil connector from one stop to another and counting
the number of turns.
– If the steering angle sender - G85- is integrated into the airbag
coil connector and return spring with slip ring - F138- (vehicles
with EPS (electric power steering) and ESP), reset the steer‐
ing angle sender.

Removing
– Disconnect battery

– Turn steering wheel to “centre position” (wheels in “straight
ahead position”).
