Special tools and workshop equipment required
♦ Removal wedge - VAS 3409-
Note
♦
When removing and installing components that are in view
(switches, covers, trim and so on), mask off areas in which
tools ( removal wedge - VAS 3409- , screwdriver) are used to
lever out those components using commercially available
masking tape.
♦
The procedure for removal and installation is identical for both
switch modules and is therefore described for one switch mod‐
ule only.
Removing
– Switch off ignition and all electrical consumers, and withdraw
ignition key.
– Remove dash panel trim in the middle ⇒ General body repairs,
interior; Rep. gr. 68 ; Storage compartments/covers; Fitting
locations overview - storage compartments/covers .
– Prise out the switch module in the middle of the dash panel,
using the removal wedge - VAS 3409- to release the catches
-arrows-.
– Release and pull off connector and then remove switch mod‐
ule.
Installing
Installation is carried out in reverse order of removal.

Removing and installing start-stop oper‐
ation button
The pushbutton for start/stop mode - E693- is an integral part of
the switch module in middle of dash panel and cannot be replaced
separately.
