Removing and installing ignition/starter
switch - D-
Removing
– Disconnect battery

– Remove lower steering column trim ⇒ Rep. gr. 68 ; General
body repairs, interior; Compartments/covers; Removing and
installing lower steering column trim .
– Release electrical connector of ignition/starter switch - D- .
– Insert two small screwdrivers (e.g. jeweller screwdrivers) into
openings -arrow-, and lever off locking lugs to release ignition/
starter switch - D- .
– Remove ignition/starter switch - D- -1- from steering lock.
Installing
Install in the reverse order of removal, observing the following:
Note
When installing the ignition/starter switch, ensure that the ignition/
starter switch and the lock cylinder are in the same position, e.g.
“ignition on”.
– Insert ignition/starter switch - D- into steering lock until it can
be heard to engage.
Installing
Install in the reverse order of removal, observing the following:
Caution
Risk of damage to the ignition/starter switch - D- .
♦ When delivered as a replacement part, the ignition/starter
switch - D- is set to “On” position.
♦ Never set the ignition/starter switch - D- to another position
than the “On” position.
– Make sure that ignition/starter switch - D- is set to “On” posi‐
tion, and insert it in steering lock housing until it engages
audibly.
– Connect battery
