4.4 Additive container: Extract fluid and re‐
plenish with new additive
4.4.1 Safety measures and handling instruc‐
tions when working on additive contain‐
er system
WARNING
Please note the following for all procedures:
♦ The diesel additive fluid is hazardous to health.
♦ Read safety instructions on new additive fluid container!
♦ Information concerning storage and disposal ⇒ Service‐
Net - Handbooks; HSO; Environment, Handbook 3 !
WARNING
Please note the following for all procedures:
♦ Information concerning „Danger to health and environ‐
ment“, „Protective and hygiene measures“, „Behaviour in
case of danger“ ⇒ ServiceNet, Genuine parts, safety data
sheets and operating instructions; Diesel fuel additive for
particulate filter.
♦ Before starting work, place extraction hose of switched on
exhaust gas extraction system near the connections of
additive container, to ensure the released additive emis‐
sions are extracted.
♦ If no exhaust extraction system is available, a centrifugal
fan (motor outside air stream) with a delivery volume of
more than 15 m
3
/h can be used.
WARNING
Please note the following for all procedures:
♦ For all assembly work on the additive container system
always wear eye protection and fuel resistant protective
gloves (avoid additive contact with skin)!
♦ Always perform assembly work on open system in well
ventilated rooms!
♦ Do not inhale vapours of additive fluid!
♦ Keep additive fluid away from heat, sparks and open
flame.
♦ The fluid vapours in combination with air can create an
explosive mixture.
♦ Vapours are heavier than air and can spread to igniting
sources near ground level.
