2. Preparation for Use and Installation

2.1 Introduction

This section contains information for VBM-1400 installation, including
recommended tools and test equipment, unpacking and inspection,
installation procedures, and connections. Items required for setup, and

operation are supplied by both the customer and the installer as listed
in Table 1-1.

2.2

Tools and Test Equipment

Installation of the VBM-1400 requires the tools, and test equipment
listed in Table 2-1. Items equivalent in function may be
substituted.

2.3

Unpacking and Inspection

To unpack and inspect the equipment, perform the following
procedures:

1.

Inspect the shipping container for damage before unpacking the
equipment. Document any obvious dents, punctures, or other
irregularities on the shipping form.

2.

Open the container and remove the packing material on top of the
equipment.

3.

Lift the equipment from the container.

4.

Inspect the equipment for external damage including dents and
scratches.

5.

Save the packing material and containers for possible reshipment
and/or servicing.

6.

When the above steps have been successfully completed, initial

the checklist in Appendix B.

Caution Do not

attempt to operate the
equipment if damage
is found and/or internal
damage is suspected.

Note If the container is
damaged, open the
container in the presence of
the shipping carrier agent if
possible. If damage is found
after the equipment is
unpacked, retain the
container and packing
materials for inspection. This
is important if a damage
claim must be filed.
