Check of shape of the flame.
The shape of flame provides information about the correct setting of the boiler at the rated output. It is
recommended to check it with each purchase of new coal:
-
By means of the fan parameter, adjust the amount of required air so as the shape of the flame matches Fig. 25.
This amount is dependent on the performance and quality of the fuel. Generally, in case of the reduction of the
boiler output (i.e. increase of the delay time of the feeder or decrease of the run time of the feeder), reduce the
amount of combustion air. Generally, in case of the reduction of the boiler output (i.e. decrease of the delay
time of the feeder or increase of the run time of the feeder), increase the amount of combustion air.
ATTENTION! - too much combustion air will result in very intense short burning on a small area. After a
short time there occurs the reduction of the boiler output due to the small area of the flame and
unburnt fuel at the edge of the burner. The unburnt fuel will fall into the ash-pan. Too small amount of
combustion air will result in incomplete combustion, which results in visible smoke from the chimney.
-
Air control is effective only if the grate is properly centred and sealed.

Maintenance
1.) It is necessary refuel in time. If only a small volume of fuel is left in the tank it must be immediately refilled. Mind
the proper closing of the fuel tank cover!
2.) If the boiler is correctly adjusted, the fuel is burnt out in case it has reached the edges of the combustion grate.
The ash and slag fall into the ash-pan drawer. At an average boiler output, the ash-pan drawer must be emptied
every other day (protective gloves must be used). Sometimes a piece of slag can get stuck between the edge of
the combustion grate and the boiler wall. Then it must be removed by means of a poker.
3.) In case of the continuous boiler operation, the boiler drum convective surface should be cleaned once a month
(the heat exchange surfaces can be covered with deposits, this can affect both the heat transfer and the boiler
efficiency). When combusting the pellets the fuel is agglomerated in the retort therefore this
agglomerate must be mechanically removed once a month otherwise the feed screw stops moving. It is
necessary to clean the mixer as needed. Its clogging worsens the combustion air flow to the burner. At least 1
hour before cleaning, the boiler must be put out of service.
4.) Then the geared motor and the fan have to be externally cleaned from time to time. (The operator must not
remove the cover from the fan or interfere with these units. Only the qualified service worker can
perform these operations.) A dry brush must be used for cleaning. During cleaning, the boiler must be
disconnected from the electricity supply.
5.) If there are pieces of stone, metal or wood in the fuel, the feed screw can be blocked. When this situation
occurs and the engine is overheated and then stopped, shut down the boiler and remove the obstruction.
CAUTION:
Before performing this operation, it is necessary to make sure that the boiler is
disconnected from the power supply (connection plug is removed from the socket).
6.) Because of a slight overpressure in the burner during the fan operation, it is necessary to mind the perfect boiler
tightness (door of the fireplace, door of the ash-pan, burner cleaning hole, fuel reservoir cover etc.). The fuel
tank tightness is specified by the proper closing of its cover by means of rotary closure and undamaged rubber
sealing of the bearing surfaces.
7.) In case of emergency (electricity outage lasting longer etc.) and fuel fire penetration to the fuel tank, the valve
BVTS (TS 130, STS20) responds due to the increased temperature and the fuel is extinguished.
8.) 1x per month, clean the boiler walls inside the furnace, boiler smoke drafts and the smoke adapter with the
brush (cooled down boiler, the temperature does not exceed 40 °C).
