Appendix F: Troubleshooting
Wave Server Installation Guide
Solution:
1. On the administrator PC, in the Windows Control Panel, choose
Network Connections
.
2. Right-click your modem connection and then click
Properties
.
3. In the Properties dialog, on the Networking tab click
Advanced
.
4. In the next dialog, clear the
Use default gateway on remote network
checkbox.
5. Click
OK
until your changes are saved.
The client modem times out and disconnects when the connection to the Wave Server
is idle for several minutes.
Solution:
1. On the administrator PC, in the Windows Control Panel choose
Network Connections
.
2. Right-click your modem connection and then click
Properties
.
3. In the Properties dialog, on the Options tab set
Idle time before hanging up
to
Never
or a
large value.
4. Click
OK
to save your change.
The Wave modem port is always busy.
Solution: The Wave modem port may need to be reinstalled. To do so:
1. Connect to the Wave Server from the administrator PC via your network (not via the
modem connection) as described on page 5-6.
2. In the Windows Control Panel, choose
System > Hardware
.
3. On the Hardware tab, click
Device Manager
.
4. In the Device Manager dialog, expand
Modems
.
5. Right-click the Surf Modem entry and then click
Uninstall
.
6. Return to Windows Control Panel, and choose
Add Hardware
. When the Add New
Hardware wizard starts, follow the onscreen instructions.
7. In the Is the hardware connected? screen, click
Yes
, and then click
Next
to continue.
8. In the screen that lists the hardware that is already installed on your computer, scroll to
the bottom of the Installed hardware list and select
Add a new hardware device
. Click
Next
to continue.
