Chapter 10: Installing the Wave Recording Archive Service

Wave Server Installation Guide

Configuring system call recording and automatic archiving

After you have installed the Recording Archive Service, perform the following tasks:

1.

If you have not already done so, configure system call recording on your system as 
described in Chapter 19 in the 

Wave Global Administrator Guide

. 

2.

Configure the Recording Archive Service. For steps to perform the following, see 
“Configuring the Wave Recording Archive Service” in Chapter 22 in the 

Wave Global 

Administrator Guide

.

•

Identify the archive folder.

•

Specify the time when call recordings will be archived automatically. (The default 
archive time is 3AM.) Depending on the number of calls that you record, you can 
archive once a day or at specific intervals, for example once an hour during business 
hours, and at 9PM and 11PM after hours. 

Best practice: 

Ensure that all or most calls are archived off the Wave Server before 

the automatic system backup that occurs nightly at 2AM, to reduce the size of the 
backup files generated. 

•

Identify the Wave Servers from which call recordings will be archived.

3.

The Recording Archive Service must be running on the archive server in order for 
an automatic archive to occur as scheduled. 

Vertical recommends that you set the 

Recording Archive Service to auto-start according to the instructions in “Starting and 
stopping the Wave Recording Archive Service” in Chapter 22 in the 

Wave Global 

Administrator Guide

4.

To automatically archive the contents of the voice mailbox for a user or queue, see 
“Archiving mailbox recordings” in Chapter 22 in the 

Wave Global Administrator Guide

. 

That section describes how to specify the users and queues whose voice mailboxes will 
be automatically archived, as well as how to set archive options (folders to archive, days 
to keep, and recording format) on a per-user or queue basis.

5.

Configure one or more Archive Recording Browser user accounts. For details, see 
“Configuring who can manage archived recordings” in Chapter 22 in the 

Wave Global
