MASS FLOW CONTROLLERS AND PRESSURE CONTROLLERS

Note:

Leak-check the MFC and PC by connecting the leak detector downstream of the

device you are checking.

Procedure 5-30: Leak-Checking Mass Flow Controllers

Note:

Always leak check mass flow controllers the leak detector hooked up to the

downstream side.

1. Give the MFC a full setpoint to open it.

2. Spray helium around the body of the MFC.

3. If a leak is detected, refer to the above VCR section for mitigating the leak. If checking the VCR fitting

does not mitigate the leak, check the o-

ring and replace as necessary (on elastomer sealed MFC’s).

Procedure 5-31: Leak-Checking a Pressure Controller

Note:

Always leak check pressure controllers from both sides; that is, with the leak

detector hooked up to each side, individually.

1. Spray helium around the body of the pressure controller.

2. If a leak is detected, refer to the above VCR section for mitigating the leak. If checking the VCR fitting

does not mitigate the leak, check the o-ring and replace as necessary (on elastomer sealed pressure
controllers).
