Appendix A:  Digital I/O Control

The TCD-3 controller provides digital signals for monitoring and control of the 
system.  Note that system parameters such as detector temperature and filament 
power levels will still require a serial link to set.  After being set, the TCD-3 can act 
in a stand-alone mode.

Digital IO Port

The Digital IO port is on the rear panel of the TCD-3 controller. This 8-position 
port (2x4) contains three digital input signals and one digital output signal.

Digital IO Connector

The TCD-3 system includes a removable plug for use with the Digital I/O port, 
equipped with attached 4-foot wire leads.  The 8-position plug uses spring clamp 
connectors.  If the need arises to change wire connections, use a small, flat-blade 
screwdriver to insert or remove the leads.
