1.3 Applicability of the manual
These installation instructions apply exclusively to appli-
ances with the following part numbers:

The part number of the equipment can be taken from
the identification plate.
1.4 CE label
As equipment manufacturer, we confirm with the CE
label that the units in the geoTHERM exclusive range
satisfy the basic requirements of the following guide-
lines:
– Electromagnetic Compatibility Directive (Council Di-
rective 89/336/EEC)
– Low voltage directive (73/23/EEC)
– EN 14511 (heat pumps with electrically-driven compres-
sors for heating, specifications for appliances for
space heating and for warming drinking water)
– EN 378 (safety and environmentally related specifica-
tions for refrigerating systems and heat pumps)
1.5 Note to installers
This product has been assessed and found to comply
with the requirements of the Building Regulations for
unvented hot water storage systems and must not be
altered or modified in any way.
The installation must be carried out by a competent per-
son and be accordance with the relevant requirements
of the Local Authority, Building Regulations, Building
Regulations (Scotland), Building Regulations (Nothern
Ireland), and the bye-laws of the of the local Water Un-
dertaking. The installion is subject to Building Regula-
tion approval, notify the Local Authorita of intention to
install. In the event of parts replacement, use only genu-
ine spare parts supplied by Vaillant Ltd.
1.6 Intended use
The Vaillant geoTHERM exclusive heat pumps are state-
of-the-art appliances which have been constructed in
accordance with recognised safety regulations. Never-
theless, there is still a risk of death or serious injury to
the user or others or of damage to the device and other
property in the event of improper use or use for which it
is not intended.
This unit is not intended for use by persons (including
children) having limited physical, sensory or mental ca-
pacities or who have inadequate experience and/or
knowledge, unless supervised by a person responsible
for their safety or who has been given instructions from
them as to how to operate the unit.
Children must be supervised to ensure that they do not
play with the unit.
The units are intended as heat generators for closed
hot-water central heating installations, for cooling oper-
ation and for hot water generation. Any other use or ex-
tended use is considered to be improper. The manufac-
turer or supplier is not liable for any resulting damage.
The user alone bears the risk.
The appliances are intended for operation on a power
supply network with a system impedance Z
max
at the
transfer point (house connection) of 0.16 ohms maxi-
mum.
Intended use includes the observance of the installation
manual.

Caution!
Any improper use is forbidden.
The appliances must be installed by a heating engineer,
who is responsible for adhering to the existing regula-
tions, rules and guidelines.
