In a multipurpose system, individually heat-activated fire

sprinklers attach to Uponor sprinkler adapter fittings. Flexible

Uponor AquaPEX piping supplies water to each sprinkler, as well

as cold-water plumbing fixtures. Because the plumbing and

the fire sprinkler systems are merged into one system, water

availability to the sprinklers is verified each time a plumbing

fixture is used.
Installation of the AquaSAFE system must comply with the

following requirements.
• NFPA 13D Standard for the Installation of Sprinkler Systems in

One- and Two-Family Dwellings and Manufactured Homes

• National Building Code of Canada (as applicable)
• Other recognized or adopted installation criteria deemed

acceptable to the AHJ

The Uponor AquaSAFE system uses sprinkler adapter fittings

with a ½" NPT outlet to attach the fire sprinkler. Refer to the

Uponor Product Catalog for all adapter fittings.
ProPEX tees and multiport tees supply the cold-water fixtures.

Hot water is supplied directly to necessary plumbing fixtures

throughout the house in a separate system.
