Appendix B. Troubleshooting
Communication Problems
P Prro ob blle em m:: Symbio 800 is not communicating with Tracer SC, but can communicate with Tracer
TU using a direct USB connection.
P Po ossssiib blle e cca au usse e:: The “Soft Set Device ID” check box was unchecked after the Symbio 800 was
installed onto the Tracer SC.
P Po ossssiib blle e sso ollu uttiio on n: Reinstall the Symbio 800 device onto the Tracer SC.
• Verify that the Symbio 800 device ID is set to the rotary address, which is found in TracerTU/
controller/controller settings/protocol.
• Log on to Tracer SC and navigate to the D De ev viicce ess page; select the Symbio 800 device from the
list, then select rre ep plla acce e from the actions button.
A Alltte errn na attiiv ve e cca au usse e:: The baud rate changed in the controller settings.
S So ollu uttiio on n: In Tracer TU, open the Controller Settings page. Set the baud rate to match the baud
rate on the Tracer SC TP link.
A Alltte errn na atte e C Ca au usse e: The rotary switch is not set properly or another device on the same TP link is
set to the same rotary address.
S So ollu uttiio on n:: Verify that the rotary address is correct. If not, change the address and cycle power. If
the device was previously installed in the Tracer SC, the device may need to be "replaced" from
the Tracer SC D

A Alltte errn na atte e S So ollu uttiio on n: If the device is set to the proper rotary address, then another device(s) could
be using the same rotary address on the TP link.
• Power down the Symbio 800 and discover the link with Tracer SC to see if a duplicate device
is present.
• Change address of duplicate device, then reapply power the Symbio 800. If previously
installed, the device may need to be replaced in the Tracer SC.
Output Points
P Prro ob blle em m: Output points are not being controlled by the Symbio 800.
P Po ossssiib blle e cca au usse e:: The output point was not configured properly in Tracer TU.
S So ollu uttiio on n: Verify the hardware configuration in Tracer TU and change as needed.
P Prro ob blle em m: The value of an analog point reads correctly in Tracer TU but does not read correctly in
the Tracer SC.
S So ollu uttiio on n: Verify that the dimensionality was set properly on the point configuration page of TU.
Log on to Tracer SC and navigate to the D De ev viicce ess page; select the Symbio 800 device from the
list, then select rre ep plla acce e from the a accttiio on nss button.
A Alltte errn na atte e sso ollu uttiio on n:: Verify that the equipment template is pointing to the proper output point in
the Symbio 800.
P Prro ob blle em m:: The output point is out of service.
S So ollu uttiio on n:: Place point in service from either Tracer TU, Symbio 800, or Tracer SC.
