– The anchoring devices must satisfy the requirements
of standards EN 795. These must be capable of
safely handling a minimum load of 10 kN (1 ton).
– The derope™ UP R descender is specially designed

6. Installation
6.1. Preliminary requirements prior
to installation
1. The derope™ descender must only be installed by
a trained, skilled technician.
2. The derope™ descenders must only be installed
and used in compliance with the laws and

DANGER:
The checks detailed below must be
carried out in advance whenever use of the

an emergency situation which would prevent you
from carrying out the checks.
1. Visual check of host structure:
–
Fastening point for derope™ STD and UP A
descenders: compliant with standard EN 795, or
having minimum capacity of 10 kN (1 ton).
– Ladder for derope™ UP B and UP K descenders:
– Uprights show no bending, and are correctly
secured to wall: minimum capacity of 10 kN (1 ton).
– Bars on which bracket is to be installed should not
show any signs of deformation.
– Tractel
®
tracpode rigging tripod for derope™ UP R
descenders.
– Telescopic legs show no signs of deformation or
bending.
– Rubber shoes present on all legs.
– Idler pulley present at tracpode tripod head.
– No signs of deformation, corrosion of tracpode
tripod head.
– Rope anti-jump pin present on idler pulley.
2. Visually inspect rope along its entire length, and at
its ends, to ensure the integrity of the rope sheath
and the regularity of its diameter.
3. Functionally check the descender by manually
moving the rope in the device over a minimum
length of 1 m in both directions to make sure that
the resistance during movement increases with the
speed of movement.
4. Check that the casings are in good condition: these
should show no signs of significant damage; all
markings should be present and legible.
5. Check the connectors: these should show no signs
of deformation or corrosion, and should close and
lock correctly.
6. Check the brackets used with the derope™ UP B
/ UP K / UP R descenders: these should show no
signs of deformation or corrosion, and should lock
correctly.
