Chapter 12 PACTOR Operation
PTOVER
is the character—(
CTRL-Z
) by convention—that’s used to change the direction of data transmission in a
linked PACTOR QSO. (
CTRL-Z
) is the character defined by
PTOVER
that switches
your
system from being the
Information Sending Station (ISS) to the Information Receiving Station (IRS) and switches the
distant
system from
being the IRS to the ISS.
This single character, (
CTRL-Z
), operates like the “+?” does in AMTOR.

PTRound
ON|OFF
Default:
OFF
Mode: PACTOR
Host:Pr
OFF
Returns the TNC to the PACTOR-Standby mode after a
PTSEND
transmission.
ON
Returns the TNC to the PACTOR-Listen mode after a
PTSEND
transmission.
PTROUND
facilitates PACTOR “roundtable” conversations with multiple stations using the
PTSEND
(FEC)
mode as opposed to the Connected mode.
As the unit finishes sending a
PTSEND
transmission it normally returns to PACTOR Standby mode. With
PTROUND
ON
, the unit returns to
PTLIST
instead in order to copy another station’s PACTOR transmission.
PTROUND
has no effect when PACTOR connection ends—the unit will always return to PACTOR Standby.
PTSend
n x
Default: 1,2
Mode: PACTOR
Host: PD
“n”
1 or 2 selects the transmit baud rate. (1 = 100 baud, 2 = 200 baud)
”
x
”
1 to 5 selects the number of times the data is repeated.
PTSEND
n x
initiates an unproto PACTOR transmission. To end the transmission, type (
CTRL-D
).
In order to increase the probability of correct transmission, the unproto PACTOR transmission sends the message
data a specified number of times. For example, entering
PTSEND
1 3
would start a 100 baud unproto transmission
with the message sent 3 times.
The transmission may be started using the default (100 baud, 2 repeats) by just entering
PTSEND
.
QPTor
n
Default: 5 (Modem 5)
Mode: PACTOR
Host: QP
n
Modem number to be selected when PACTOR is entered.
QPTOR sets the DSP-232 modem that will automatically be selected when the PACTOR mode is entered.
Rcve
Immediate Command
Mode: Baudot/ASCII/AMTOR/PACTOR/ Morse
Host: RC
RCVE
is used in Morse, Baudot, ASCII, AMTOR, and PACTOR modes to switch your DSP from transmit to
receive.
You
must
(
RETURN
)
to the Command mode to use
RCVE
.
RECeive
n
Default: $04 (
CTRL-D
)
Mode: Baudot/ASCII/Morse/AMTOR/PACTOR
Host: RE
