Chapter 10 Morse Operation
Mode: Baudot, ASCII, AMTOR, PACTORand MORSE
Host: EA
OFF
Echos characters when sent to the DSP by the computer.
ON
Echos characters actually sent on-the-air by the DSP.
The Echo-As-Sent (
EAS
) command functions in all modes
except
packet.
EAS
lets you to choose the way data is
displayed on your monitor screen or printer. To display your text on your computer screen exactly as you’re typing
it in or while sending it from a disk file, leave
EAS
OFF
. To see the actual data being sent from your DSP-232 to
your radio and transmitted on the air, set
EAS
ON
.
With
EAS
ON
in Morse and Baudot RTTY, you’ll see only uppercase characters on your screen and the data
actually transmitted to the other station.
With
EAS
ON
in AMTOR mode A and PACTOR (ARQ), you’ll see characters echoed on your screen only
after
the distant station has validated
ack
ed your block of three characters. For packet, the
MXMIT
command should be
used.
Nulls ($00) are not echoed, including the nulls produced by
DIDDLE
ON
in ASCII.
ERrchar
n
Default: $5F (_)
Mode: AMTOR, PACTOR, Morse, NAVTEX and TDM
Host: ER
“
n
”
A hexadecimal value from $00-$7F used to denote the error character used by the DSP for Morse, ARQ,
FEC, PACTOR, NAVTEX, and TDM.
“
n
” is a hex value $00-7F, default $5F (underscore). This is the character that the DSP displays when it receives a
corrupted or bad character in Morse, ARQ, FEC, PACTOR, NAVTEX or TDM. You may want to set this character
to $2A (asterisk), $07 (bell), $20 (space) or $00 (null)—whichever works best for you.
ERRCHAR
ON
or
ER
Y
restores the default.
Lock
Immediate Command
Mode: Morse/Baudot/AMTOR
Host: LO
AMTOR and Baudot:
LOCK
is used to force a LETTERS shift in the received data. This can be helpful if noise has
garbled the LTRS character causing FIGURES to be displayed.
Morse:
LOCK
instructs the DSP to lock its timing circuits to the current measured speed of a received Morse
signal; This may improve the DSPs ability to decode those signals in the presence of high noise levels. To
“un-Lock” the Morse speed and allow the DSP to track the received signal automatically, enter an
R
or
MO
in the Command mode, followed by a
(
RETURN
).
MFilter
n1
[,
n2
[,
n3

]]] Default:
$80
Mode: Morse, Baudot ASCII, AMTOR, PACTOR and packet
Host: MI
“
n
”
0 to $80 (0 to 128 decimal) specifies an ASCII character code.
(Up to four characters may be specified separated by commas.)
Use
MFILTER
to select up to 4 characters to be “filtered” or excluded from Morse, Baudot, ASCII, AMTOR,
PACTOR and monitored packets with parameters
n1
-
n4
, the ASCII codes for the characters you want to filter. The
special value of $80 (default) filters all characters above $7F and
all
control-characters except
(
RETURN
)
($0D),
LF
($0A), and (
TAB
) ($09).
