Chapter 8 ASCII and Baudot Operation
AAb
text
Default: empty
Mode: Baudot, ASCII, AMTOR, PACTOR
Host: AU
text
Any combination of charcters (maximum: 24).
Use
AAB
to enter
ack
nowledgment text for Baudot, ASCII, AMTOR and PACTOR.
AAB
sends automatic
confirmation in Baudot, ASCII, AMTOR and PACTOR in response to a distant station’s
WRU
request—it’s like an
answering machine message you’ve set up for incoming calls. Set
WRU
ON
or
CUSTOM
to
$0200
to activate your
Auto-AnswerBack message.
To record your AAB message, enter “
AAB
(24-character text)”. Example:
cmd:
AAB
WF7A
-
VASHON
ISLAND
,
WA
...and yes, spaces between words count as characters.
ABaud
n
Default: 110 bauds
Mode: ASCII
Host: AB
“
n
”
Specifies the ASCII data rate—in bauds—from your DSP to your radio.
ABAUD
sets the on-the-air baud rate only for the ASCII operating mode; it’s the baud speed your DSP talks to your
radio and has no bearing at all with the speed your computer is set at to talk with the DSP.
The available “
n
” ASCII data rates in bauds are: 45, 50, 57, 75, 100, 110, 150, 200, 300, 400, 600, 1200, 2400,
4800 and 9600.
ACRRtty
n
Default: 71 (69 in AMTOR)
Mode: Baudot/ASCII RTTY
Host: AT
“
n
”
0 - 255 specifies the number of characters on a line before a
(
RETURN
)
is automatically inserted in your
transmitted text. Entering a zero disables the function.
When sending Baudot or ASCII RTTY, the
ACRRTTY
feature automatically sends a
(
RETURN
)
at the first space
following the “nth” character or column like the “autowrap” feature in a word processor—when you type and near
the right margin, the word processor automatically issues a
(
RETURN
)
to put you on a new line.
Use
ACRRTY
when you’re sending and don’t want to be bothered by watching the screen or worrying about line
length. You should
not
use this option when retransmitting text received from another station—ARRL Bulletins, for
example.
ACRRTTY
is used in AMTOR, except that AMTOR is limited by international TELEX practices to a maximum of
69 characters per line. If
ACRRTTY
is set to 71, in AMTOR the automatic
(
RETURN
)
function operates after 69
characters.
ALFRtty
ON
|
OFF
Default: ON
Mode: Baudot/ASCII RTTY
Host: AR
ON
An
LF
is sent after each
RETURN
.
OFF
An
LF
isn’t
sent after each
RETURN
.
If
ALFRTTY
is
ON
when transmitting in Baudot or ASCII RTTY, an
LF
character is added and sent automatically
after each
(
RETURN
)
character you type.
