Chapter 10

Morse Operation

Overview

The DSP will both send and receive International Morse code at much higher speeds than hand-sent code. As a rule,
though, no computer can “copy” code as well as the human ear and the DSP is no exception. A strong signal and a
good “fist” are

both

required for the DSP to do a reasonable job of copying code. Don’t expect your DSP to perform

miracles and produce good copy from incredibly weak signals and bad fists!

Before proceeding with the rest of this chapter, review the following commands that are directly applicable to the
Morse mode:

The DSP supports special keystrokes that you can use to send “prosigns” while in the Morse mode. These special

at the Command prompt. The DSP responds by displaying

the previous mode it was in, then its new mode:
