Chapter 9 AMTOR Operation

Your alternate SELective CALling code (SELCALL)
Use the
MYALTCAL
command to specify your alternate SELCALL which, under certain conditions, may be
convenient or necessary. (You can enter an additional SELCALL code not related to your callsign.) The alternate
SELCALL can be any four alphabetical characters, or can be numeric strings of either four or five numbers.
MYALTCAL
is generally used for special applications such as receiving network or group broadcasts in AMTOR
mode B Selective (Bs or SELFEC).

Specifies your SELective CALling code (SELCALL)
Use
MYSELCAL
to enter the SELCALL (SELective CALLing) code required in AMTOR ARQ (mode A) and
SELFEC operating modes.
MYSELCAL
is a unique character string which must contain four alphabetic characters
and is normally derived from your callsign.
Amateurs may simply enter their callsign in
MYSELCAL
and the DSP will automatically translate it into a 4-
character SELCALL using the grouping table below:
GROUP CALL SELCALL
1 by 2
W1XY
WWXY
1 by 3
W1XYZ
WXYZ
2 by 1
AB1X
AABX
2 by 2
AB1XY
ABXY
2 by 3
KA1XYZ
KXYZ
Although the convention is to form the SELCALL from the callsign, your DSP can include any AMTOR character
in the SELCALL. In accordance with CCIR Recommendation 491, 4- or 5-digit numbers may be entered; the DSP
automatically translates the numeric entry to your 4-letter alpha SELCALL. For example:
cmd:
MYSELCAL
KG6ZL
MYSelcal was none
MYSelcal now KGZL
cmd:
Nums
Immediate Command
Mode: Baudot, AMTOR, TDM
Host: NX
In Baudot, AMTOR and TDM receive, the
NUMS
command will force the DSP into the FIGS case.
OVer
Immediate Command
Mode: AMTOR, PACTOR
Host: OV
An immediate command that reverses the link direction from ISS to IRS; this can be considered the opposite of the
function of
ACHG
. The changeover happens as soon as possible—the DSP doesn’t wait for all the characters in its
buffer to be sent.
OVER
should be thought of as analogous to
RCVE
—as neither command waits for the buffer to empty—the same
way the
PTOVER
character is analogous to the
RECEIVE
character (both
wait
for empty). Host applications can
use
ZSTATUS
to detect when all characters have been sent.
