7 OPERATION
BACKLAPPING PROCEDURE (SPORT 200 AND MAGNA 250 ONLY)
1.
Apply an even coat of backlapping compound to
the entire length of each blade of the reel.
2.
Release locknut (A)
3.
Set the Backlap switch (C) to the Backlap position.
4.
Use a tachometer to measure reel speed. Adjust
nut (B) until reel rotates at 200 rpm.
5.
Tightening locknut (A)
6.
Start the engine and set the throttle to low idle.
Switch the cutting unit switch (PTO) (D) to the on
position.
7.
Reel speed must be slow enough so that the reel
does not throw off the grinding paste when it
rotates. Adjust as necessary
NOTE
•
The operator can leave the driving seat for 3 minutes
during backlapping before the machine shuts down
unless it See's a manual input.
8.
Once all the blades on the reel are uniformly
sharp, shut off the engine and switch the cutting
unit switch (PTO to the off position. Set the
Backlap switch to the off position.

Release locknut (A)

Use a tachometer to measure reel speed. Adjust
nut (B) until reel rotates at 1150
± 75
rpm.

Wash all of the backlapping compound from all of the heads. Once they are thoroughly cleaned and
dry, apply a light film of oil to the cutting edges to help prevent rust.
13.
After backlapping, the reel to bedknife adjustment must be made again.
