Loading the Macintosh driver
The printer uses the Adobe PostScript Level 2 language. To take advantage of
the Level 2 features, Tektronix developed the Tektronix Phaser 480 driver which
appears in the Chooser along with the LaserWriter 7.0.x driver. The Phaser 480
driver includes special paper sizes and TekColor color correction options. Refer
to the Phaser 480 Drivers and Utilities Printing Reference for more details on the
Tektronix drivers
To install the Tektronix driver with system 6.0.7 or higher or 7.0 or higher
1.
Restart the Macintosh with the shift-key held down the message
Extension off
is displayed on the screen. This disables any anti-virus
software.
2.
Place the Phaser Macintosh Printer Driver diskette into the disk drive.
3.
Double-click on the Installer icon and click OK at the introductory
screen.
4.
In the Easy Install window, click the Install button.
5.
Click the Restart button in the dialog box that appears.
6.
Select the driver’s icon and the printer in the Chooser.
LaserWriter 7.1.2 and its support files (Laser Prep, Backgrounder, and
PrintMonitor) are required to use the Tektronix driver and to print in the
background. The Installer automatically copies these files to your hard disk
drive if you are using system 6.0.7.
The network software and utilities diskette contains an EtherTalk Zone utility file
you can use to reprogram the printer to reside in another EtherTalk zone, if
necessary.
