Lift up the left end of the pick roller along its groove to remove the
roller. Be careful not to break the two plastic cam followers that fit
around the pick roller shaft. Be careful freeing the pick roller’s clutch
latch from its catch inside the gear end. Also be careful of the paper
sensor flags.
Reverse these step to reinstall the pick roller. It is easier to install the pick roller
if its right end bearing is placed on the end of the roller shaft prior to installing
the pick roller in the printer. The flat keyed portion of the bearing assumes a
6 o’clock position on the shaft. After inserting the right end of the pick roller in
to the printer frame, lift the right cam follower so it engages on the cam shaft as
the pick roller is seated into position. As you seat the pick roller lift and engage
the left cam follower on its cam. Check that both cam followers rock freely after
the pick roller is properly seated. If the cam followers are improperly installed
under the cams, the paper tray will jam against them.
While installing the pick roller, move the paper pick clutch’s latch out of the way.
Afterwards, engage the clutch latch to the catch in the end of the pick roller.
Note that in a properly installed pick roller the flat sides of the cam-shaft paper
pick should face down with the rear end slightly lower that the front (showing a
5
o
rotation). In this position, the paper pick clutch’s latch should be engaged to
the catch in the end of the pick roller.
