Phaser 480 Color Printer

FRU Disassembly/Assembly

Thermal head

Turn off the printer. Remove the power cord.

Push the top cover release to open the top cover.

Remove the two upper mounting bracket screws (M4 x 6) and washers
from the top-center of the thermal head mounting plate. Do not
remove the two adjacent screws from the thermal head’s mounting
plate.

To free the thermal head, at the left and right ends of the thermal head
turn the release claws to unlock the thermal head.

Caution

The thermal head is held under spring pressure. In the next step, be
careful the two head springs do not fall into the printer.

Lift the thermal head slightly to free it from the head support
assembly.

Disconnect the four wiring harness connected to the thermal head.
