Checks and Adjustments
Vertical misregistration
Vertical misregistration shows best when a high ratio of a single color, such as
yellow, is viewed against the other colors, in this case cyan, magenta and black.
1.
Turn off the printer.
2.
Clean the platen roller, the pinch roller, ink roller and the rubber parts
of the clamp bar using 90% pure isopropyl alcohol.
3.
Remove the lower rear covers as detailed in the Chapter 8 procedure
“Lower rear cover” on page 8-3.
4.
Remove the engine control board cover which is held in place by two
screws (M3 x 7, panhead).
5.
Print a registration test print as explained in the Chapter 6 topic
“Verifying print engine operation by using its self-test print” on
page 6-3.
6.
Examine the test print. Look for yellow out of alignment (above or
below) the other colors (cyan, magenta and black). The distance
yellow is misaligned above the other colors is referred to as Y1. The
distance yellow is misaligned below the other colors is referred to as
Y2. If the misalignment is over 0. 2 mm, make the following
adjustment: In the case of Y1, lengthen the yellow printing. In the case
of Y2, shorten the yellow printing. In the case of the test print, the
horizontal lines are about 0.2 mm thick.
