4.3.1
RMC ribbon detection
mechanism

This printers have a built-in ribbon motion sensor. This sensor can detect the pres-
ence and the proper motion of the ribbon. During power on the printer will test if a
ribbon exists, and during printing the motion of the ribbon is permanently checked. If
no ribbon is detected (which is also the case when you use other ribbons) or the
ribbon is jamming, a message "Check Ribbon" will be displayed and the printer goes
offline. It can be set to online again by pressing the "Online" key, and will then print
one line before the next "Check Ribbon" message appears.
